Saumu's Gastronomy

My brother almost every midnight to me, “Saumu bhook lagi hai, kuch khane ko banade” and all our secrets are shared while the food is prepared by me. He comes into the kitchen and stands next to me talking about everything from his daily chores to his occasional banters.

Our bond strengthens with every meal we have together. I like to cook and whenever I cook, my brother is on my mind: “Arjun would love this” and when he says “bahut acha banna hai” it just makes my day. ♥️

I remember when we were working in different parts of the country and met after months, he would make sure we ate something together, and the joy of meeting used to double with those new cuisines and exclusive dishes, much that we would remember the days by saying “uss din humne woh burger try kiya tha!”

During our childhood he would save his special treats in the fridge to have them later so that he could tease me and I used to quietly go and finish them saying Papa did it. 😛

Much to my surprise, now I like to give him my share too. I distinctly remember one day my parents were out for some work and my brother and I tried making an omelette, I failed at it miserably but unlike me, he made such an amazing one!

I long to have something cooked by him as it has a very special feeling attached to it.

My last memory of him is cooking cheese maggi for me and we talked till 4am that day!

I am glad to relive the childhood memories with him as most of us are working from home now. There is no feeling that can match the ones we experience everyday together at home ♥️

Even now while writing this I have been filling his mouth with some peanut chat simultaneously! 😛
